I hope you and your loved ones are safe during the last couple days. The recent fires have deeply impacted our community, and I wanted to share some resources available to those affected, as well as ways you can offer support to those in need.

Shelters

 How to Volunteer

  • Canine Rescue Club is supporting disabled pets and animals. You can volunteer here.
  • My Safe La is partnering with the LA Fire Department to enhance community resilience. They are accepting volunteers here.
  • Volunteer County of Los Angeles has a few community support activities and recover efforts. You can volunteer here.

 Donations

  • LA County Donations – You can donate here.
  • The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the city’s fire department, is asking for donations so it can buy and give firefighters emergency fire shelters, hydration backpacks and wildland brush tools needed to stymie wildfires. You can donate here.
  • World Central Kitchen is accepting donations. You can donate here.
  • The American Red Cross is providing shelter, food, relief supplies and medical care. You can find more information here and donate here.
  • GoFundMe has verified and consolidated dozens of fundraisers that victims have started in recent days.
  • The Salvation Army is accepting donations. You can donate here.
  • The Mutual Aid L.A. Network created a Google spreadsheet with information about shelters and animal centers that also lists volunteer and donation opportunities.
  • Some Y.M.C.A. of Metropolitan Los Angeles locations are accepting essential items for families affected by the fires. More information Here.
  • Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund supports intermediate and long-term recovery efforts. More information here.
  • California Fire Foundation is providing immediate assistance to victims through programs like supplying disaster relief cash cards to those affected. More info here
  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles will work to assist in rebuilding homes for those affected. More info here

 Donations for Animals

  • The Animal Wellness Foundation is asking for donations so they can house and feed their pets. You can donate here.
  • Pasadena Humane said on Wednesday night that it had taken in more than 300 animals, some with burns and other fire-related injuries. The shelter is asking people to give money so staff can treat them with medication, fluids and oxygen. You can donate here.
  • Best Friends Animal Society is asking Los Angeles-area residents to serve as temporary foster families and to buy the adoption center items from its Amazon wish list.
