of the
Committee Meeting

21 March 2005

Will and Ariel Durant Branch, Los Angeles Public Library

The meeting was called to order by Chair Vince Vitale at 6:30 p.m. Present were Vince Vitale (Chair)- Charles Wainberg, Deana Ruggieri, Laura Fox and Claire Guy. These notes were taken by the Chair.

Chair explained to the committee the current status of the motions which were passed by the Environment Committee at the January meeting, and efforts which were being made to put them before the Board of Directors.

This was followed by a description of the Tree Planting Program of the City of Los Angeles Environmental Affairs Department. Chair distributed three hand-outs. The first is a tri-fold brochure called “Rooted in Neighborhoods: Tree Planting 2004-5.” It is described as a grant-funded enhancement opportunity for business and residential areas. The program helps individuals determine tree selection to enhance home and business and then provides the trees, after the individual or business submits a “Permission to Plant and Care for a Street Tree.” This permission form was also distributed to attendees.

Following this was a general discussion of local issues.

The next meeting of the Environment Committee will be:
16 May 2005, Monday, 6-8 p.m.
Will and Ariel Durant Branch, Los Angeles Public Library
7140 W. Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles CA 90046

There were neither new suggestions at this meeting, nor were there any public comments.

There being no further business, Chair called for a motion to adjourn. Motion to adjourn was made by Charles Wainberg and seconded by Laura Fox. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
