Anthony Deckoff, committee chair, called the meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.

A general discussion of the proposed Sunset Business Improvement District brought forth favorable reaction, but was tabled for further consideration until a representative of the germinal BID can meet with us.

Stakeholder Barbara Witkin presented us with information on the Neighborhood Watch group that has been organized for the area between Sunset and Hollywood, from Fairfax to Stanley.

An impromptu discussion (off-agenda) was held on the appearance of the West Nile virus in our area. Authorities have advised residents to try to avoid mosquito bites, at least through early fall. Most people will not be seriously affected by the disease, but fever, headache, and even paralysis are possible symptoms. Two fatalities have been reported in California this year, along with a hundred non-fatal cases.

Committee Chair Anthony Deckoff presented concerns about the dangerous traffic conditions on Fountain Avenue and suggested possible approaches to solving the problems. After general discussion, the committee passed a resolution to seek out a solution for the traffic problems in question. The Traffic Committee will be asked to assist with the project. The issue will be considered in greater detail in future meetings.

Stakeholder Cheryl Holland reported progress on her efforts to enforce turn regulations on sidestreets along Sunset Boulevard on Friday and Saturday nights.

A brief and favorable discussion was held on the Historic Preservation Overlay Zone that has been newly proposed, covering the sidestreets between Sunset and Hollywood, from Fairfax to Vista.

A motion to adjourn was carried, and thanks were extended to the Hollywood Church of Religious Science for hosting the meeting.
