Area 3/Business/Housing Joint Meeting
Approved minutes
Tuesday, August 19, 1008

1) Introductions were made.
2) The presentation on Powerhouse Bar was tabled until September.
3) The discussion with Kip Rudd and Allison Becker of the Community Re-development
Agency took the form of three major items. These were the Design Review Studies
for Hollywood Blvd. and Franklin Avenues and the comprehensive structure known
as the Human Development Overlay Zone. The first two as described by Ms. Becker
of design specifications for new projects in terms of appearance, size, use and
conformity to the types already in place here in Hollywood. Chair Woolsey
made an
observation about the excellent mix of structures present in such areas as
Old-Town
Pasadena and The Third Street Promenade. Housing Chair Paul Ramsey asked the
question made by many architectural critics over the years, ” What does this
building
want to be.” The next discussion was on the HDOD as questions of parking
adequacy came up during the discussion. The HDOD according to the speakers will
address many issues of quality of life that many assumed were too broad to be
handles in a draft but assured us they will do so.
4) Katherine Woolsey gave us a quick primer on nutrition and dieting efforts.
