Meeting Agenda
1. Welcome, Introductions, and Sign-in
2. Discussion and Possible Vote on the development on Cahuenga Peak.
3. Discussion and Possible Vote on requesting a LA City Building Code change of the new Section 8106.1 which requires that all work conform to code and that no hazardous or substandard conditions be continued or created in the remainder of a building where there is repair, alteration, or construction in excess of 10% of the replacement cost of any structure in any fir zone. All of the hills are in the Mountain Fire Zone.
4. Discussion and Possible Vote on requesting a LA City Building Code change of the new Supplemental Code Section that affects all hillside construction on slopes exceeding 33% (LABC 2002) and would require among other things all downhill shear walls at below any retaining level at the house (base shear Level) would have to be made of steel or concrete; thereby requiring an enormous expenditure from the homeowner.
5. Discussion and Possible Vote on the question of whether to require the LA City Department of Recreation and Parks to give a full accounting of the monies expended so far on Runyan Canyon and a full update on the status of the plans for Runyan Canyon and other “dog” parks in the area that would affect the use of Runyan Canyon Park.

A. Welcome, Introductions and Sign In: Chair Paul Ramsey appointed Frank DeFoe Vice Chair to assist with communications to Area 01 residents, and to attend other Area and Committee meetings
B. Discussion and Possible Vote on the development on Cahuenga Peak: Motion passed unanimously requesting that President Dan Bernstein to submit to Councilman Tom LaBonge our OPPOSITION to the proposed development on Cahuenga Peak.
C. Discussion and Possible Vote on requesting a LA City Building Code change of the new Section 8106.1 which requires that all work conform to code and that no hazardous or substandard conditions be continued or created in the remainder of a building where there is repair, alteration, or construction in excess of 10% of the replacement costs of any structure in any fire zone. All of the hills are in the Mountain Fire Zone: Motion passed unanimously requesting that President Dan Bernstein request the City provide the appropriate official to attend our next HHWNC meeting to discuss why and how the ordinance was issued without Area committee review, and to validate the reasons behind the radical changes which may affect the majority of our HHWNC residents.
D. E. Discussion and Possible Vote on the question of whether to require the LA City Department of Parks and Recreation to give a full accounting of the monies expended so far on Runyan Canyon and a full update on the status of the plans for Runyan Canyon and other ‘dog parks’ in the area that would affect the use of the Runyan: Motion passed unanimously requesting that President Dan Bernstein request a senior official attend our next HHWNC meeting to give a full accounting of the project status.
F. General Comments: Request HHWNC Area 01 Agenda for their May 12, 2004 meeting Discuss and Possible Vote on the abuse of permanent real estate and other signage that is not permitted, especially along main thoroughfares i.e. Barham Blvd.
